White Oak

Identification: 

-Simple leaf with distinctive lobes with rounded tips
-Ash-gray bark with thin, flaky plates
-Elongated acorn to 1 inch in length, chestnut brown

Note:   Probably the most prized of all oaks for its ornamental qualities and its outstanding white wood used for furniture and cabinets.  Found growing in moist, fertile soils along streams, the White Oak is very sensitive to environmental stresses and performs poorly in urban conditions.
